Ball Screws - Manufacturing

Beaver Aerospace & Defense manufactures ball screws and actuators for a wide variety of applications. We employ the most talented and experienced people in the field of ball screw and actuator manufacturing, all of whom understand the importance of synergy – working together to manufacture world-class actuation products.

Excellence is the standard

At Beaver, we go beyond the standard. We know that it isn't good enough to produce many exceptional products. They must all be exceptional. Whether it's a short run of limited application ball screws, or a large run of linear actuators for mass use, each unit must perform flawlessly. In order to accomplish this, our manufacturing team works with state-of-the-art CNC equipment and other specially-designed machine tools, such as:

• High-speed O.D. thread grinder which give us the capability to quickly fulfill large orders
• Large capacity grinders which allow us to manufacture ball screws of virtually any length
• Computer-controlled wheel dressers which take the guesswork out of precision thread grinding
• State-of-the-art hard and soft thread peeling processes
• High-speed hard-turning and milling on the latest generation CNC multipurpose turning/milling centers.

We manufacture ball screws from various materials, based on customer environment and application requirements. The table below is an example of various alloy and stainless steels we have used. We have experience with numerous other materials and will work with the customer to select the best material for their specific requirements.  

Beaver’s Program Management practices are evident through the entire life cycle of the project. Standard industry practices, patterned after the Program Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK), are utilized from the onset of the project.

A project manager is assigned at the beginning of each project to provide a single point of contact for all project-related questions. The project manager conducts a kick-off meeting with all internal and external shareholders to ensure all objectives are clearly defined, prior to any work being started.

Once the objectives are clearly defined and the Statement of Work (SOW) is developed and agreed upon, a work breakdown structure (WBS) is developed to itemize the work and successfully complete the project. The WBS is utilized to develop the Program Master Schedule
